Whether you're staying a day, a week, or a month, you'll never be bored! Easy access to the interstate makes our location ideal for day trips to the Asheville, Brevard and Greenville areas. Below are just a few of the many attractions in the area. From strolling down the quaint streets of downtown Historic Hendersonville to riding the currents in a hot air balloon – there is always something to do/someplace to go in the Hendersonville area!

Chimney Rock Park: This 1,000-acre park provides one of the most breathtaking views of the area from the top if its giant "chimney rock." Access to the view is via an elevator ride through 26 stories of solid rock. Scenic nature trails lead to the beautiful 404-foot-high Hickory Nut Falls.

Connemara: The last home of Carl Sandburg, famed poet, author and Pulitzer prize winner. The simple lifestyle enjoyed by the Sandburgs for 22 years is evident throughout the house and 264-acre grounds. Inside, the home has been restored to depict how the famed poet lived and worked while residing here.

Golf: There are many golf courses in the area including three 18 hole championship courses within minutes of Weeping Creek.

Holmes Educational State Forest: An outdoor recreation area offering a series of well-marked trails, accented by exhibits and displays depicting ecology of a managed forest. Picnic sites and a spacious picnic shelter with grills are available.

Historic Johnson Farm: Built by wealthy tobacco farmer Oliver Moss between 1876 and 1880, the original house was converted into a boarding house by Sallie Liverett Johnson. The house includes a museum with thousands of artifacts that depict farm life in the area until the mid 1900s.

Pisgah National Forest: Spread over 157,000 acres throughout several counties in the area, this national forest features public campgrounds, hiking, fishing and hunting. With elevations ranging from 2,000 feet to 6,410 feet, the park boasts 1,300 species of flowering plants and 130 varieties of trees. Horseback riding and bike rentals are available here. It is the home of Sliding Rock, Mother Nature's own water slide where visitors can slide down a mirror-smooth rock into a deep mountain pool. The Cradle of Forestry is the location of the nation's first forestry school. Also located here are a museum and visitors center, historic buildings and forestry exhibits.

Skyland Arts Cinema:
A unique place to take in a movie. Sit down at a table, order a dog or a burger and enjoy the show!

Tea At Lily's: Enjoy an authentic English High Tea or fine luncheon in an elegant Victorian atmosphere.

Waterfalls: There are several beautiful waterfalls, including the 110-foot-high twin Connesstee Falls and the 85-foot-high Looking Glass Falls.

Western North Carolina Air Museum:
Vintage aircraft, such as a bi-winged 1942 Stearman, are available for
you to see.

Also within a 30-minute drive are the Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Village & Historic Museum, Botanical Gardens, the Folk Art Center, Mineral Museum, North Carolina Arboretum, the WNC Nature Center and much, much, more!


The Arts, Theatre, Music:
Arts Center: This 4,600 square-foot center is the location for the Four Seasons Arts Council as well as the offices of several cultural groups in the area. A studio, gallery and exhibit space are also located here.

Opportunity House: This 15,000 square-foot facility serves as the community's arts and crafts center as well as a place for such activities as bridge, children's workshops, lectures, sewing groups and college courses in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Technical College.

Absolute Theater Company: A mix of professional talent and volunteers present family-oriented entertainment in a four-play season.

Flat Rock Playhouse: North Carolina's oldest professional summer theatre, Flat Rock Playhouse hosts an ambitious series of plays in the summer months from late May to early September. The performing group, known as the Vagabond Players, has been recognized as one of the best summer stock groups in the nation. Highway 25, south of Hendersonville 693-0731

Hendersonville Little Theater: A local community theater that has been performing since 1966. The all-volunteer group stages four shows annually from September to May in a refurbished barn.

Vagabond School of Drama Children's Theatre: Offers a year-round program of instruction in the theatre arts for students in grades 1-12. Flat Rock Playhouse 693-0731

Brevard Music Center:
BMC hosts an annual summer music festival open to the public, consisting of seven weeks of more than 50 different public performances, ranging from symphony to solos and operatic repertoire.

Carolina Chamber Singers: This group of singers with extensive musical backgrounds performs classical, religious and secular music, usually in the spring and at Christmas.

Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra: Made up of talented local musicians, the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra performs an ambitious season at local venues. Guest conductors and nationally-known musicians and vocalists join the group.
